No Exit

- A letter from us

Fighting for Social equity, isn’t just a buzz word here at Dolphin, that is why we changed to a Social Enterprise. This is why we don’t have an exit strategy.

At our core, we really do want to see things improve here in the UK. The other reason to move to the Social Enterprise model, is to show the world, we’re not growing this to sell. This organisation is growing because society needs people and businesses to step up and demand positive change. When you choose to invest in us, be it as an investor, a client, a team member, we want you to know that we’re in it for the long haul. We’re not planning on going anywhere and we’re not looking to be the next sell-out.

We see so many businesses grow to sell. Whilst this is a perfectly valid model, it is not for us. Whilst creating amazing profits is what we’re working for, it is to enable us to reinvest this into our Social model and put Social responsibility at the heart of everything. Not eyeing up that Yacht purchase…

“Whilst creating a business model that becomes mega profitable would be amazing, and I love being on the ocean, I don’t need to go buy a yacht. I’d much prefer to know that I made a positive impact to those around me, like Laura did for me. She quite literally contributed to my still being alive today and I’ll always be grateful for her seeing in me what I couldn’t at the time. I want to be able to do that for many others and this is my driving force. To pay forward the kindness, trust and support Laura has shown me.” Zara Roberts

“Even if I became wealthy I get sea sick, so I’m definitely not buying a yacht. Lol

In all seriousness, I’ve spent a lot of time deliberating over the choices I’ve made in life and the one trend I see happening is my desire to help people. Roles I’ve undertaken that go against that, I’ve felt very uncomfortable with. I think this was also why I joined the Armed Forces. I wanted to make a positive impact and do something bigger than what I could do alone… I’ve come to realise that at my core, I want to make a positive impact. Whether that’s to 1 person in this life, or to thousands, the more impact I can make the better. I’m also not interested in “fame” . I just want to reach people and see what I can do to help. I’m an ideas person, so my hope is that by sharing my ideas, discussing concepts I’ve thought up, that bringing these to life, can have that positive impact and can fundamentally create change for years to come. It feels like a huge dream, but it’s one I feel at my core, is something I’m willing to put my all into.” Laura Dolphin

We feel strongly about our mission to create a positive impact, we’re not formulating an exit strategy, but considering a long-term mission, spanning decades and beyond us at the helm. We’re here to create a legacy that goes beyond us and encourage change for lifetimes to come. We’ve created an organisation that can move with the times, can navigate with limited red tape and be a company that is creating and inspiring positive change here in the UK. Will the future be more? Maybe! But we want to help at home first and let's face it, there are enough people on our own home turf that are in desperate need of support to work.

A lot of companies today end up losing control early on by allowing outsiders to force their direction. By changing to a Social Enterprise, we have limited our funding pool in the a-typical sense, but we are also setting some clear ground rules about what we stand for and what we’ll accept. Any investor knows that we are Socially driven, from the off! Not several meetings later… So whilst we’re open to funding and investment, it simply must support the Social mission that drives us.

Would we consider acquisitions? Yes - but not for someone to acquire us. We’ve seen many people start businesses / self employment during covid, before and since due to a NEED for flexibility, not necessarily a desire to have EVERYTHING rest on their shoulders. We would love to be in a position to offer to bring them into our warm, wide open arms and to incorporate what they do into the Dolphin brand. Offering them a role to remain with what they have built, knowing that they have us there supporting them to do it and to do it whilst enabling them to remain flexible.

Fundamentally, we’re here to create long lasting change, to support people and organisations around the UK and reduce the pressure on public spending by enabling more people to access work and be more independent.

Under the Dolphin brand, we’ve now created and established:

Dolphin Business Services - where our team, becomes your team

FlexForever - a jobs board and talent search

WilPlus - a digital guide and template to protect small business owners and leaders, in their time of need.

#DoPassItForward - our Campaign enabling us to help even more people around the UK.
